My First Novica Purchase From Ana Maria Gonzales
Over time I have purchased a number of Ana Maria's stunning decoupage crosses and decorative boxes. This is the one that began my collection. While the feeling is rustic and antique, the cross itself is finely and perfectly finished--without flaw. The picture doesn't do it justice. There is substance to the pinewood and the edge is beveled and beautifully finished in a muted gold. The metal ring for hanging has the appearance of aged iron. The colors are clear, yet soft. The size is 11 inches high, small enough to fit above a doorway or in a grouping of objects, and still large enough to make an impression when hung alone. This is a very tasteful cross, crafted with care and artistry. I was so happy when I received it, that I immediately ordered a second cross from the artist, the larger "Virgin Morenita Guadalupe."

My 3rd mirror. **Please use better hanging hardware!**
This is my 3rd reverse painted mirror from Asunta Pelaez. 1st was the small Crimson Star; then the octagonal Black Star; and my birthday present was this golden Sweet Flower Majesty. They are all beautiful, but I do have one complaint: Though the mirrors increased in size/weight, all are pre-mounted only with a single relatively cheap piece of hanging hardware (pictured -- the scratches on the paint are from hanging the mirror my wall, the removing it for the picture). I would need to *very carefully* mount another piece of hanging hardware to hang a mirror horizontally. Also, the existing hardware is both somewhat flimsy (I live in an earthquake zone), and mounted so near the edge of the frame that if you use a hook instead of just a nail, the hook is visible above the mirror. At the moment, my solution is to paint my hanging hook to match my wall. I would prefer to mount better hardware to the mirror, but the mirror is thin and I worry about breaking it if I add hardware!
