Carved by hand with an impressive level of detail, the majestic Hindu god Ganesha is depicted in this crocodile wood sculpture from Bali. Known as a protector and remover of obstacles, Ganesha has the head of an elephant. He sits atop a giant lotus flower, holding weapons in two of his hands and his favorite dessert, laddus, in another. Beneath his foot is a rat, serving as his mount. Nyoman Indrawati Subrata of the Subrata Family creates this fascinating sculpture to honor the wonderful work of her late father, Nyoman Subrata.
