Master ceramics artisan Jose Arriola crafts this family of owls, at his workshop in Antigua Guatemala, where his family has been producing artisanal products for more than 100 years. Jose creates these owls with the ancient wood-fired terracotta process over the course of days. First, Jose forms each owl in a mold, then heats the clay in a 1300-degree kiln and applies a glazed finish before painting each owl by hand.

Owl be talking to you!

These two owls are irresistibly! They look so chatty, don't they?! Just looking at them makes me smile. I am making them my spirit animal! They are right next to another Novica product; a two sided cat! I just got a lovely porcelain Robin bird for my birthday. The five of them are near me on my side table. A round Robin. Thats an old term for people seated around a table. They remind me of parrots bopping around and it makes me laugh. If Jose Arriola reads this, I love the birds so much! Thank you for your artistry.

Birthday gift for a friend

When I saw this on NOVICA, I immediately thought of my best friend and how much she?d love this. Her birthday happened to be a few weeks later, as well, so great timing! When her gift arrived, she was so surprised with the standard/free wrapping option, messaging me, "it?s so cute and fancy". When she fully unwrapped her rabbit, she told me "It?s so cute and so satisfying opening it". Her photo looks just like the NOVICA photos, except the face may actually be even cuter. She?s happy. I?m happy. What more can I ask for?
