This wall relief panel is a testament to the exceptional beauty of African art and a tribute to the traditional Dogon boards of Mali. These revered objects were known for their intricate depictions of human and animal figures, serving as protectors of the household and warding off malevolent spirits. Ghana’s Ayoma Alhassan creates his own version of those boards with a wall relief panel remarkably hand-carved in mahogany featuring eccentric figures, including monkey and bird-faced humans, turtles and more, each exquisitely adorned with accents made from a blend of charcoal and glue. They are further embellished by intricate hand-painted details that bring a pop of color to this stunning piece.

Simbisa means “to strengthen” and “to empower” in the African Shona language. It is also the name that Ghana’s Ayoma Alhassan selected for this exceptional relief panel carved by hand in mahogany and decorated with faces he accentuates with a mixture of charcoal and glue and then paints by hand. This unique wall art is a tribute to the traditional Dogon boards of Mali that were used to adorn the entrances of homes, embellishing them with intricate depictions of human and animal figures to ward off evil spirits and safeguard the household.

Lidia Veronica Echenagusia is a Cuban artist that lives in Costa Rica and specializes in different arts and crafts, painting being one of her greatest passions. She took inspiration from her previous work to capture with acrylic paints on canvas and in Expressionist style a woman whose hair houses the most exotic animals and nature. "This series of paintings was born because many people told me I should turn into paintings the handcrafted dolls that I used to make so they could appreciate them in their homes. I am inspired by nature, colors, everything that surrounds me; the strength, weaknesses and dreams of women and human beings in general," says Echanagusia.

Costa Rica is his homeland and his endless source of inspiration. A traditional Costa Rican home surrounded by nature and animals is depicted by Jairo Mora with acrylic paints on canvas and lovely color combinations. The artist paints by holding the brush in his mouth because he has no arms or legs. "I hope that the people who buy my works of art feel as happy as I do while making them and appreciate the effort behind each of them," he says.

Working with oil paints, Hugo Pichiya brings San Jorge La Laguna to life, a charming village nestled along the shores of Guatemala’s breathtaking Lake Atitlan. In the distance, the towering Toliman Volcano rises beneath a clear sky, while the lake stretches out in quiet splendor. The foreground is filled with the warmth of daily life—a woman in traditional Maya attire and a man in a wide-brimmed hat tend to their sheep, framed by white-walled homes with terracotta roofs and a central church. Lush greenery and bursts of pink, orange and yellow flowers weave through the scene, capturing the beauty and rhythm of this splendid village.
