This colorful African mask by Wilson Aboagye depicts a sober face with eyes closed. An adinkra symbol on the forehead depicts a ladder. Owuo atwedee means "ladder of death." It is an Akan symbol of mortality and a reminder of the transitory nature of existence in this world. Rich textures are created with embossed aluminum and copper inlay.
