Majestically ornate, this mask of Bobo origin (Mali) features a round-headed bird with a tall crest and long beak. Abubakari Alhassan carves an impressive sese wood replica of the traditional mask, usually worn during ceremonies that celebrate new crops and initiation rites as well as at funerals. The mask stands on an iron base.
