By Joycelyn Sena Zigah, these handcrafted earrings depict cowrie shells in gleaming sterling silver. The beautiful shells were once used as money in West Africa, and Ghana's currency — the Cedi — takes its name from sedie, the Akan word for "cowry." "Cowrie is money and should be worn as such — an emblem of prosperity," the Ghanaian designer says.

I am recently saved and had been looking for my lifetime devotional cross to wear. I had purchased a couple other items from Mexican artists in silver from NOVICA. I did not create an account at that time. I loved this immediately on arrival!!! Thank you so much for your well considered creativity in the integration of the adinkra. I will wear it all my days. Regards, Timothy Timber Sewell

I love the detail in this ring. Mrs Zigah is an excellent silversmith. I wish she would make match earrings, necklace and bracelet cuff with this same design.
