Matted Figure Drawing on Paper, "Talking in the Garden"

Carefully rendered with graphite on paper, Mukti Wibowo's stunning sketch depicts a king conversing with his court on a sunny afternoon in the royal garden. Inspired by the stone relief sculptures on famed Buddhist temple Candi Borobudur, the artist carefully shades each figure, giving the sketch a bas-relief appearance. A black polyester mat complements the drawing's shaded areas perfectly.
