This bold mask depicts Punchinello, a grotesque buffoon from the 16th century Italian commedia dell'arte. In this theater form, the mask was more important than the person wearing it. Marcílio Barroco molds this handsome example from leather and paints it by hand; his signature is a symbol. An elastic band holds it in place.
