Details

Asantewaa, the name of this doll, was a brave queen mother of the Ashanti people of Ghana. She was renowned for her ability to lead men into war, and since that time, many women who bear this name manifest a representative level of valor and intelligence. Carved from sese wood, the piece exemplifies Daniel Nyadedzor's creative and historical artistry. Aluminum plates, emulsion paints, clay, and a finish of Mansion polish complete the reverent design. The carving is known as an akuaba, or fertility doll.

Nice Christmas gifts”

I gave these as Christmas gifts to a business colleague. Something unique and different for those who have everything. Liked the fact they were made of wood.
