Preserving the artisanal heritage of his Wixarika or Huichol culture, Miguel Díaz in Mexico creates this wonderful small sculpture. The bison is crafted from papier mache and covered with tiny glass beads in elaborate patterns. The beads are applied one by one using beeswax, and the designs include the ojo de Dios or "eye of God", a symbol of protection and blessing.

My boyfriend says his spirit animal is the bison, and we both love huichol art so this was the perfect anniversary gift for him and he absolutely loved it! Id love to see bigger pieces of this kind of art.

Pictures do not do this buffalo justice. The seed work is meticulous. I am in awe of this magnificent animal and have a large collection of buffalo figures. This seeded figure is one of my favorites.

A gorgeous and meaningful artwork. The beadwork is meticulous. The patterns and colours are mesmerising and vivid. And best of all it looks exactly like a jaguar! I love it and will treasure it. I also appreciated the wonderful wrapping and presentation, which meant this item was received in the UK in perfect condition. Wonderful. Warm cheers to Mexico!
