Since learning to weave at the tender age of 8, Elena Ixtamer in Guatemala has worked to preserve her family and cultural legacy in weaving. This beautiful rayon ikat scarf is woven on a traditional backstrap loom in violet and white. Ikat is a weaving technique that employs resist dyeing the yarns before weaving the fabric. Braided fringe trims both ends of the scarf.

“My Favorite”

“Soft and Matches Everything!”

These colors are so beautiful. Looks like a VERY expensive scarf and is soooo soft! Its my go-to-scarf, and I get compliments every time I wear it.

“Exquisite shawl”

This is absolutely gorgeous. It is even prettier than I expected and shows off the artists abilities. I have no idea how anyone can weave such an intricate pattern. I love it.
