Hand Carved Sese Wood Dogon Tribal Mask from Ghana, "Dogon Lore"

The protruding nose, ears, and square, cut out eyes of this African mask from Ghanaian artisan Emmanuel Austin Ankude are emblematic of the masks used by the Dogon. They are an ethnic group found principally in Mali, West Africa, who wear the masks during rituals called dama.
