Hand Carved Animal-Themed Jempinis Wood Sculpture from Bali, "Ubud Monkey"

Balinese artisan Komang Sri makes this wooden sculpture in honor of the iconic monkeys that inhabit the forest of her hometown, Ubud, manually carving local jempinis wood with her family. The monkeys that attract tourists to the area are the inspiration for Komang Sri, whose family has been carving sculptures for generations, finding customers for their works of wood in the very same travelers who come to experience the social primates.
