Uniformed in jaguar skins and wearing an imposing helmet, this noble knight was one of the highest ranking warriors in Tlaxcala. Artists from the Flores Family Workshop depict a Jaguar Knight as seen in pre-Hispanic archaeological site of Cacaxtla. Much like the Aztec Eagle Knight, both these elite fighting men were contemporaries but the tlaxcatecos joined Hernan Cortes in his battle against the Aztecs of Tenochtitlan in July of 1520.
The artists work in alcohol ink over an aluminum repoussé panel, which arrives framed.
Titled "Guerrero Jaguar" in Spanish.
You can find our aluminum repousse panel 'Cacaxtla Jaguar Knight' by Flores Family Workshop in paintings categories such as People and Portraits Paintings, Realist Paintings and Mixed Media Paintings. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
