Details

Three Wise Men join Mary and Joseph in welcoming Baby Jesus in this endearing nativity scene featuring an ox and a donkey. Gabriel archangel watches over them to ensure all is well. Jose Canil Ramos carves each figurine by hand, with pinewood he weathers and dries during the summer months. The characters' florid golden yellow robes and black cloaks are painted by hand, including their smiling faces. Featuring nine pieces, this nativity scene preserves a tradition that was brought to Guatemala in 1649. Joseph's hand and staff, as well as Gabriel's wings, are removable.
