The valley of Kashmir comes alive in this beautiful box designed by India's Fida Hussain. The decorative oval container is crafted from weeping willow wood and coated with papier mache using techniques that date back to the 15th century. Intricate floral details are then painted by hand in a serene shade of blue, enhanced with golden outlines. The interior is painted black for contrast and is the perfect size for holding small keepsakes.

I recall my friend from India gave me an elephant decor when I moved away. I certainly can imagine these ornaments as symbolic of carrying one of the wise men that Christians celebrate at Epiphany (January 6).
