Sterling leaves and vines conjure the Garden of Eden. Adorning a slender silver cuff, they distinguish this bracelet by Kenari. In the center, a sparkling 1 carat amethyst is flanked by bands of 18k gold plate.

These earrings are as beautiful as the photo. For some reason, when I put them in, the design part hangs facing a bit backwards so from the front you just see the plain side of the earrings. Maybe this is just the way my ears are pierced, but I havent had this issue before. Overall, well made and beautiful, just hang a bit oddly.

I was happy to find garnet earrings in a silver setting rather than gold. They are perfect and Ive received numerous compliments on them.

Moving On Up
Kenari is committed to growing her workshop. She constantly develops new designs and has assistants to help her increase her output.
Preserving Traditions
Kenari is from Celuk, the historical center of the Balinese silver trade. All of her family work in silver and, as a girl, she learned silversmithing techniques from her grandfather and assisted her uncle in his workshop. When she married, her husband was very supportive and she continued to create jewelry. Kenari uses traditional techniques and hand-finishing. She incorporates traditional Balinese designs in her pieces in the hope of sustaining not only traditional techniques but also the motifs that are the hallmark of Balinese jewelry. She would love for her children to continue this art and hopes to teach them as they grow up.
Microcredit Financing
Kenari has received 5 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $2000 and the most recent for $4000. Proceeds were used to invest in more sterling silver to create new jewelry designs.
Caring for Children
Kenari and her husband are very involved in their children's lives. They particularly encourage their sons' artistic pursuits and their interests in guitar, gamelan music and drawing.
Job Creator
Kenari's jewelry workshop has grown since joining Novica and she now has assistants there. Additionally, she is able to give work to local silversmiths as the need arises.

"I've loved making silver jewelry ever since I was a little girl because my parents and uncle taught me how to work with silver. The reason I love this field is because I keep learning."
