Here in the USA in the 1970's this was called gauze fabric. One of my favs. I try to buy 100% cotton always. I bought these shorts in the blue and liked them enough to come back and buy them in khaki. This is a very light beige/tan color. I purchased large and am about a 12 (US) and they are a loose fit.
