Papier Mache Masks

24 items

Explore NOVICA's Collection of Papier Mache Masks. You'll discover unique, colorful masks handcrafted by global artisans. The name 'papier mache' comes from 17th century France, but the art form originated in China, during the Han Dynasty, where it was used to create helmets. As it spread around the world, papier mache evolved into a material used for masks, festival ornaments and anatomical models.

An excellent decorative piece

It is impressive the mask design and more dramatic are the colors. It is a focus of attention. Love it.

Breathtaking!

Product picture

It exceeded my expectations. The beadwork is incredible. The eyes are cut out yet they are so deep that they look black when hanging on the wall. Deep into the darkness peering, long I stood there. Wondering...

Wow - Just WOW!

What incredible detail! This is so beautiful and the beadwork is PERFECT. There's not a crooked bead anywhere - the quality and artisanship are phenomenal! I can't find a signature anywhere but he definitely should - it is my first of many to purchase! I have really enjoyed learning about the Huijol people and customs!
