Cuban-born artist Lidia Veronica Echenagusia creates a fantasy world, born out of the hand-painted pottery dolls she used to make. Lidia Veronica Echenagusia is a Cuban artist that lives in Costa Rica and specializes in different arts and crafts, painting being one of her greatest passions. She took inspiration from her previous work to capture with acrylic paints on canvas and in Expressionist style a woman whose hair houses the most exotic animals and nature. "This series of paintings was born because many people told me I should turn into paintings the handcrafted dolls that I used to make so they could appreciate them in their homes. I am inspired by nature, colours, everything that surrounds me; the strength, weaknesses and dreams of women and human beings in general," says Echanagusia.

"The work is entitled 'Meditation on Peace' and is inspired by a work I did in 2019 on this same topic. I want to transmit with this work a message about the importance of meditating on peace; therefore, the female figure embodied in the work is a representation of Mother Earth, the nature that we must take care of in order to be in peace and harmony. The transformation and movement are expressed in the leaves that at the same time suggest the idea of ??birds. The range of cold and warm colours express balance and the white/silver background colour represents peace as a purpose of fraternal union," explains Fuentes.

A beautiful woman, with long, colourful hair that evokes a patchwork quilt, breathes a sigh as she contemplates yellow blossoms on a nearby tree. The original artwork brings a splash of colour and energy to any space.

"This painting depicts life in my village - the way mothers look after their children is reflected in the caring way they look after their dogs. Many times families will share what little they have with their pets," says Boni from Guatemala. "The woman with her back to us represents the friends we meet on the street, whereas the guy sitting watching the world go by represents those who don't lift a finger when they see someone in trouble - for example he can see the woman is carrying all that firewood and doesn't help her. But, the woman and child don't mind; they keep walking, getting on with life, struggling toward a better future." Boni paints with oils in the style that is known as Comalapa Naïf.

Memories from ancestors offer a glimpse of the Mayan grandeur. Oil and liquid glass allow Guatemalan artist Carolina Cabrera to capture the country's pride in the ancient Maya world, paying homage to her heritage. The artist adds a symbolic message through the diverse elements composing this expressionist painting.
