Sese, a local wood from Eastern Ghana, is patiently hand-carved and sanded to achieve the desired form. The piece is then delicately painted with black emulsion and coated with potassium. I now own 8 of these lovely masks, handcrafted by a very talented artisan in Indonesia. Eka has an expert creative eye, as though the wood itself speaks to her about what it would like to become. These are the perfect accent to the spa like room that I'd envisioned!
