Deftly carving cedar wood, George Obeng exhibits the fierce intelligence of the king of the jungle. The lions stand guard in the library as handsome bookends.

Even though the artist is very skilled, his lack of reference to the shape of the ears on a lion led him to carve very pointed ones. Lions ears are broad and rounded. This took away from the effort to make these bookends look like lions. Also, the heads were too narrow for lions. Despite that the carvings are beautifully done, nicely stained, and will serve their purpose.

I was so excited when I seen the bookends and learned what the meaning was. It gives me great joy to have them in my home.
