Painting with acrylics on Fabriano paper, Indian artist Jay Karun offers a glimpse of Kerala customs and traditions. "The fishmonger goes out into the world, her woven rattan basket dances with fish freshly caught from the river. Their lungs bursting with oxygen, the fishes squirm and bounce about. Unmoved the woman trudges on, calling out to the world to come and buy her fresh catch. The bright green of her blouse is a stark contrast to the woman's daily grind, symbolizing life's eternal thirst for the hope of a better life," says Karun as narrates his muse's story.

I plan to frame this next week and hang it in my bedroom. The colors and expression are just what I was hoping to have. Beautiful piece.
