A teen walks the streets of Antigua, carrying a myriad of colourful toys which he offers to passersby. Dolls, animals and carts tempt toddlers, and bright foam rubber snakes and lizards appeal to older children. "I depict a young vendor, one of many who take advantage of vacation days during the Holy Week observances," Mario Sergio Aviles says. Although he offers fun and happiness, the weary boy seems thoughtful. His family relies on his help to meet day-to-day expenses.
Titled "William y las iguanas" in Spanish.

This painting gives me great joy. I love the colors and the composition. The artist, Mario Sergio Aviles, created a powerful image, filled with meaning. The subject reminds me of the seasons of the church, the seasons of life, and Gods gifts: children, rain, faith, forgiveness, and hope. Also, the canvas arrived ready to hang and was well protected for transport. This beautiful painting will be treasured.
