With a tail like a prickly pear, a whimsical multicolored chicken centers this circular ceramic wall art from Mexico. Maria Isabel Cruz creates this addition to your home decor, crafted using the centuries-old dry rope technique, in which a wax mixture made of magnesium oxide and fat are applied to the outlines of the image or motif prior to glazing. The wax mixture creates a barrier that keeps the different fill colors in the design separate during firing, before burning off to reveal the blackened ceramic beneath. A length of nylon cord on the back provides for easy hanging.

The Fish Under the Sun and Prickly Pear Chicken arrived, extremely well packed and in perfect condition. The quality of the plates, the colors, and the artwork itself all exceed my expectations. I have wanted to replace some old pictures in my dining room with something livelier and a happier vibe, these are doing a fabulous job of updating the space!
