Used by fishermen in Peru for thousands of years, the caballito de totora is a standing watercraft traditionally made from reed bundles. Diligently hand-carved from mahogany wood, an Andean man conducts his seaworthy vessel with a long stick. Peruvian artisan Fernando Castro creates this cultural sculpture.
The man and the boat are two separate pieces.
