This intriguing mask by Gordon Adu is shaped like a coffee bean. Adorned with tribal markings, it depicts a dancer from the Dan tribe of Côte d'Ivoire and parts of Liberia. Masks like this one are worn during festivities and also make an appearance for funeral rites.

THIS PIECE OF WOOD HAS A HEFT AND WEIGHT TO IT, THE CARVING IS SPECTACULAR! IT IS A POWERFUL LION! I HAVE PUT HIM NEAR AN ALBRIJE GIRAFFE WHO IS TRYING TO EAT MY MOTHERS HYDRANGEAS IN A DEER VASE. TRUST ME, ITS SUCH A GREAT SETTING. THIS IS MASCULINE ENOUGH TO GIVE TO A GUY. i AM VERY PLEASED WITH MY LEO. ;)

This Maroon Lion sculpture is even more impressive in reality than the photo; I was delighted with my purchase! The colours are really vibrant with intricate carvings, and it has a substantial and weighty feel to the piece. I highly recommend this artist.
