Extraordinary in its simplicity, the design of this shawl follows the dictates of Queen Ahilya Bai Holkar, who in the 18th century commissioned sarees to be designed without the traditional lavish floral motifs. Weavers from India Social preserve this millenary style, known as Maheshwari, after the fort of the same name. They weave the shawl on a traditional loom with beige and ivory cotton and silk threads. Maroon, gold and black frame the shawl featuring hand-knotted fringes.

Surprised to receive this scarf which is not silk and is not like it seems in the picture. I wouldn t buy it for even 15$. Yet, I paid over 35$ for it. Want to return it. I have other silk scarfs and saris which are pure silk. I know what silk is like.
