Costa Rican Traditional Wood Devil Mask with Toucan & Macaw, "Boruca Devil with Birds"

A scarlet macaw and a toucan decorate this traditional Costa Rican devil mask that recreates the ones worn by the Boruca people during their annual Dance of the Devils celebrations, which commemorate the battles against the Spanish conquerors. This colorful wall decorative accent is painted and carved by hand from balsa wood by the artisans of Costa Rica's Association of So Cagru Indigenous Women.
