Queen Yaa Asantewaa, born in 1840, was the queen mother of Ejisu of the Ashanti Empire in Ghana. In her lifetime, she was an inspirational figure, leading the charge against British colonialism in the War of the Golden Stool. Emmanuel Atiemoh Yeboah pays homage to this African icon with this piece of wall art. Working with oils and batik on cotton cloth, he creates the expressive image of Yaa Asantewaa's face in creative shapes and colors. This piece arrives within a ceiba wood frame.
