Using traditional tools and methods, Awudu Saaed of Ghana crafts this set of 3 small masks. The masks are carved by hand from rubberwood and then adorned with recycled glass beads in various patterns. Local clay is also applied to achieve an "aged" look. The artisan names the set Tikro nko gyinaa, an Akan expression meaning "One head doesn't constitute a council".
Please note: Sizes are approximate. Colors and motifs may vary, but the theme will be similar.
You can find our african beaded wood masks 'Wise Counsel' (set of 3) by Awudu Saaed in categories such as Ghanaian Masks and Wood Masks. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
Microcredit Financing
Awudu Saaed has received 6 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $200 and the most recent for $800. Proceeds were used to stock up on the raw materials he uses for his masks, vases and decor items.
