Powerful horns arc upward like crescent moons, crowning an authentic African mask by Kobina Asmah. Carved by hand of native sese wood, the polychrome mask receives applications of ornate aluminum repoussé. "In the Ashanti kingdom of Ghana, the bull mask represents the strength and endurance of the Ashanti kings, which is the basis for conquering other kingdoms," the artisan explains. The mask features an aged, weathered finish.

This sculpture of the Benin Oba is rare, but the item I received did not have the richness of the picture. Also the sculptures coloring on the neck had bed a-lot when the item arrived. This was going to be a culmination moment of my current collection. .
