Keen to preserve the traditions of Ghana's Akan people, Otchere Raymond designs this original mask to personify the king's mother. Ohemaa in the Twi dialect of the Akan people, the sese wood mask is carved by hand featuring a shiny brass oval on the forehead, which is decorated with embossed aluminum. Painted black, the mask features red lips, nose and brows.

Sankofa Gleam looks just as wonderful in person as it did on the website. I love the combination of wood and metal, and of course the design is perfect -- it has become a focal point of the room. I can tell it was made very carefully, by someone who cares about his work. It comes with a leather loop attached to the back, too, so it was easy to hang. Im delighted!
