Crafted using the stencil technique, the girl appears to emerge from the sese wood board, treated with glue for texture and rendered with expert strokes of acrylics and charcoal.

Experience the heartfelt artistry of Ghana’s Kobina Asmah, who draws inspiration from his beloved canine companion. “My dog has been with me through my most challenging times,” Asmah reveals. With the ingenious stencil technique, this endearing black and white wall art depicts the adorable dog seemingly emerging from the sese wood board, treated with glue for texture and brought to life with meticulous strokes of acrylics and charcoal.

First used hundreds of years ago to add dynamic texture and complexity to Hindu temples, Indian artists are perpetuating ancient styles in their present-day creations. Contemporary Indian artist Neelima Gupta interprets this tradition with her painting 'Bouquet of Flowers', which she painstakingly shapes over the course of a week by mixing marble powder to form a dough that she extrudes to give relief to the topographical imagery combining birds and flowers, over which she paints to bring nature to life. To highlight the scene's depth, Gupta surrounds the painting in a vertical neem wood frame.

"The spiral symbolizes the passing of time, or the duration of natural life," says Marco Florindez as he explains his work. "Life never stops developing through time and space. I was inspired by a symbol on a textile piece from the Chavin culture. It was the abstraction of a serpent coiled into a spiral with a central point of origin and infinite continuity." Florindez starts sculpting the piece with a steel base adding cotton textures in black featuring a soft burgundy light.

Since the piece hangs from the steel frame, it can be placed in any direction, as desired.
