The members of the Ranm Ixoqi' female artisan group work together to produce handicrafts and improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. Ranm Ixoqi' means "woman's heart" in the Mayan Kaqchikel language, and preserving Mayan customs is one of the group's goals. The Mayan weaving tradition uses the backstrap loom, a type of loom where one end is tied to something solid such as a pole or post and the other end consists of a strap that goes around the user's back. It is with a backstrap loom that this 100% cotton table runner is woven. Thread in ivory is used to create the table linen, featuring line motifs that form the image of a tree. The runner is finished with fringe on each end.
