Fida Hussain in India creates this pretty slender box, preserving the artistic legacy that was handed down by his father. It is crafted from weeping willow wood and covered with papier mache. A chinar leaf motif is then carefully painted on the box in red and gold. The box is lined with velvet to protect small treasures.

“These elephants and their tapestries are beautifully painted!”

I recall my friend from India gave me an elephant decor when I moved away. I certainly can imagine these ornaments as symbolic of carrying one of the wise men that Christians celebrate at Epiphany (January 6).
