Silver Necklace with Roman Glass Handmade in Thailand, "Ancient Dance"

Two ornate medallions complement one another — one curved and ornate, the other squared and geometric. Five filigree teardrops host diminutive flowers, evoking a dance from bygone times. By Michael Krainer, this handcrafted necklace features a precious piece of Roman glass, which began life as a vase, jug, or vessel. Uncovered from ancient Roman archaeological sites in modern-day Israel, and sourced from a reputable antique dealer authorized by the Israeli government, each piece not only bears the marks of its past life as a household or temple object, but also has been transformed by the very earth in which it rested.
