Ghanaian designer Theophilus Sackey presents this gorgeous mask that is made using local sese wood. Theophilus works with local artisans who cut and carve the wood into the beautiful design, before painting and completing the mask with a distressed finish. Intricate, eye-catching textured aluminum repoussé metalwork adorns the mask's forehead and cheeks. The name barima is an Akan word meaning "man."

The best description of this piece is sexy. Curves of the stripping coupled with colored lips and lids ... awesome!

I received this mask today. It is even more beautiful in person than online. I am so pleased! Surprisingly, the mask appears to be black and white only in the online image. In fact, the elephant appears a deep rich purple. This enhances the image. Its a wonderful art work.
