Juan Henry Mendez is an artist with a passion for painting that stems from childhood. In his work, he hopes to capture and preserve the beauty of his native country, Guatemala. He does that dream justice with this impressive painting of a peaceful lake with boats resting on the shore. Depicting the Lago de Atitlán, or Lake Atitlan, it shows the San Pedro volcano in the distance. Mountains watch over the lake against a sky turning golden with the setting sun.
