Artisan Desak Nyoman Parwati creates a casual dress filled with natural Balinese elements. Abstract splash patterns are created through a traditional batik dyeing process, which involves an artistic application of wax along with the tie-dying technique to create complex layers of colour. Shades of plum, cerulean and lapis evoke a seaside feel in this design that has two in-seam pockets on both sides.

“Just what I was looking for and better”

I get compliments every time I wear this dress. Its unusually hot here in Kansas. I need clothing that doesnt cling, is colorful and flattering. The hem adds interest to the cut of this dress. Very comfortable fabric that dries on a hanger and doesnt need ironing. I ordered a small even though I usually wear a medium. The small fits perfectly. Its flattering , cool, cheery and makes me feel proud to wear it. I will order another in another color when it comes out.

“Not the same.”

I have 3 of these dresses that I ordered in the past, and this new one is not the same nice quality. The fabric of this new one is heavier and rougher and doesn t feel as nice as the other 3. This is so disappointing, especially because the price has gone up.I won t be buying anything else from Novica.

“Soft, comfy and so pretty”

I have several creations from Desak Nyoman Parwati. This dress is as lovely as the other favorite. How do I choose? They are so soft. Flowy, comfortable. Not excessively loose. Pockets! Ive warned to a picnic birthday party for a teenager and to my nieces graduation when she became a doctor. Dress up or down with jewelry and types of shoes and these are the perfect summer all occasion dresses.

“I like so much, I bought twice!”

This dress is so comfortable and soft. Stylish and lovely to wear on special occasions with heals or casual with flats or sandles. I get compliments whenever and wherever Im wearing it. I meant to purchase a similar dress in a size smaller, due to weight loss. Bought this by mistake. Dont even care! The colors are stunning, havent faded. A favorite for sure.

From her, she learned not only the art of batik and textile design but also how to care for her workers. In her workshop, Desak and the older artisans generously teach their art to the younger artisans, preserving for another generation this UNESCO cultural treasure.
