Signifying the simultaneous presence of dark and light, as well as the sunrise and sunset, the Mayan glyph for the macaw, Aq'ab'al, is etched by hand into a medallion of dark green Guatemalan jade. Zandra Lorena Sajbin designs this stunning pendant necklace, inspired by the beauty of jade and the significance of pre-Hispanic glyphs. The pendant centres a length of adjustable cotton cord, and features the Nahual name "Aq'ab'al" inscribed on the reverse side.

My necklace just arrived yesterday and I already love it. The Guatemalan Jade is incredible and very well etched and polished and it hangs light, in case there are those who like lighter necklaces. The face of the pendant suggests it was hand done, but very well done at that, and I cant help but love to wear it.

For some time I have been searching for the perfect jade ring, looking through the pages of my favorite jewelry store, comparing details and photos, Having bought several lovely Zandra pieces for gifts for my daughter as well as myself--so I appreciate the quality of Zandras work. The size of the stone is perfect, and the silverware is lovely. My only disappointment is with the color, which I thought would be close to the light color of my Zandra earrings. My ring is not pale green as the description claims. It is deep green with no sign of any mottling. I know jade color varies, and Im wearing the ring right now with a sweater that matches nicely. Just remember that the jade in the picture is the same style but not necessarily close in color. That said, this artist is one of my favorites.
