An exotic accessory to add to your home decor, this set of six hexagonal coasters is presented by Gunadi of Indonesia. Known as Kembang Kanthil in Javanese culture, a motif of magnolia flowers symbolizing love and compassion is stamped onto the coasters using the batik technique. Shades of black, red, and cream give the wadang wood coasters a dramatic touch.

“My niece loved this gift!”

The coasters are unusual and the batik design is beautiful! They fit the bottom of a medium glass tumbler. Only suggestion I have is to make it in a slightly bigger size as well.

“Artistically Made”

Just read the details. Solid wood, beautiful design, the symbols behind the art. And I couldnt agree more- the black, red and cream on the outer edges give it a touch. Dramatic and artistic. Truly reflective of the artisan stories of Novica. What they dont tell you, is about the packaging of this item. Made it feel like a gift within a gift. See photo.

“beautiful and larger than expected”

These are quite beautiful. The only surprise was that they were considerably larger and heavier than expected. The description is correct in terms of the size, so be sure to make sure that matches your wishes.

“Fine Craftsmanship... BUT!”

Appreciate this artists craftsmanship, but I was hoping and expecting to receive the mask as shown and detailed in the product photograph. While the features and colors are similar, there are visual differences that I noticed immediately. The lighter areas of the face as shown in the photo are a tannish color and not white, which provides a poorer background for the figures painted in those areas. Secondly, the two black scrolled extended end features (top right side and bottom left side) in the photo are only painted to simulate a scroll and not round shaped. Third, the bright red colors are a maroon which mutes the masks visual presentation. Lastly, the top middle stem with yellow leaves is not flared-out as wide. While are I understand that each mask is hand-made and there will be variations, I did not expect to receive that many. I still am satisfied with this purchase, but hopefully, the artist will accept my feedback as constructive criticism of the mask I did receive.
