With eyes closed, a man's features radiate peace. Oscar Rodolfo Mendoza works in ceramic to create a replica of the funeral masks used by the ancient Maya. Hieroglyphs painted by hand tell the story of the personage. Modern artisans utilize the same materials and techniques as in pre-Hispanic times, achieving the red, yellow and orange colours from annatto seeds.

“Love this Mayan Jar”

I use the jar to burn palo santo and sage and I just love it. I did not see anything in Mexico that looked more authentic mayan than this jar.
