Artisan Kwasi George of Ghana hand-carves three birds onto this sese wood wall mask, one on top of its head and two below its chin. The artisan's unique design features an Adinkra symbol on the mask's forehead; Gye nyame, which means "except for God" and symbolizes God's supremacy. Local clay is applied to give the mask an aged patina.

This is a gorgeously carved crow that is very special to me! The sculpture itself is actually bigger than I expected, and looks so wonderful next to our indoor plants. It feels indebted to nature and also a celebration of crows ? their wonderfully unique, crafty and inquisitive personalities, not to mention their beauty. Traditionally carved and expertly crafted, there are many details like the intricate feather carvings that do not interfere with how smooth and sleek the sculpture itself is. Thank you so much to Kwasi George for this beautiful gift.
