Entitled Sandía, or "watermelon," this whimsical carved cypress wood fruit is crafted in Guatemala by Julio Jimenez. He brings the figure to life with water-based paint and a final coat of varnish to give it depth and a brilliant shine.

I have watermelon salt & pepper shakers, magnets, trivets, napkins, cutting boards--just to name a few items. (My vacation home even has a watermelon table cloth and loads of other watermelon designed pieces) I place this sculpture in a bowl with my lemons or whatever fruit I have out and it looks so nice! It is so beautifully carved and painted it stands out and gets lots of compliments...so cute!
