Get Lost! Why the Right Time to Travel is Right Now

Grab your tickets. Pack your passport. Travel is back in a big way, and we cannot wait to explore the world again. And, as tourism reawakens around the globe, you may find that some typically crowded attractions and regions are still relatively deserted. Now is the time to explore those places that you’ve always longed to see.

For those of us longing to get back out into the world, perhaps nothing conjures more excitement than a suitcase waiting by the door. To celebrate the return of travel, we’re showcasing a few of our favorite handbag artisans. Delight in the details of their work.

In the Bag

Artisan Mirian Otzin in Guatemala has perfected the art of bohemian casual with her stunning handwoven backpacks — ideal for strolling through markets, exploring the great outdoors or wandering the city. Her colorful ‘Flowers of Comalapa’ backpack (below, left) is woven on a traditional floor loom and trimmed with brown vegan leather.

Whether it’s a slender passport wallet or a capacious travel bag, you’ll need to equip yourself for secure storage on the go. Mexico’s Ricardo Hinojosa captures the very spirit of adventure through his one-of-a-kind designs. Blending trends with tradition, he creates timeless accessories for men and women. Check out his ‘El Bajio’ toiletry case (below, top right), crafted from soft suede and fully lined.

Joao Carlos Silva from Brazil designs sleek leather bags for journeys both long and short. Choose from a wide array of travel cases, laptop bags, backpacks and duffels. For staying organized in transit, you won’t find a better option than his roomy ‘Style Traveler in Black’ wheeled carry-on (below, bottom right).
